Glossary
L
Label
Self-adhesive material or paper used to mark products, pallets, transport units, or documents. Labels can contain barcodes, text, graphics, or RFID.
Label Materials
Materials for labels, e.g.:
• Paper labels – cost-effective, for short-term applications
• Plastic films (PE, PP, PET) – robust, water- and chemical-resistant
• Vellum / Thermo Eco / Thermo Top – various grades for direct thermal printing
• Synthetic labels – extremely durable for industrial use
Label Printer
General term for printers specifically designed for printing labels, stickers or tags — with options such as direct thermal, thermal transfer or RFID.
Label Printer
Specialized printing system for printing individual or batch labels. Supports direct thermal printing, thermal transfer printing, barcode and RFID applications in industry, logistics and production.
Labelpoint
Special printer emulation for label printers, which is particularly used in logistics and shipping environments.
Laser Printer
A printing system that uses laser beams and toner to transfer highly precise text, barcodes, and graphics onto paper or labels. Laser printers offer high printing speeds, excellent image quality, and durable print results. They are used in industry, logistics, offices, and shipping, and support just-in-time printing, direct PDF printing, and inline production.
Line Printer
An industrial printer type that prints a complete line of text at a time. Line printers are frequently used for high-speed document printing, form printing, and logistics processes. They offer robust, reliable printing performance, are suitable for continuous media and multi-part forms, and are particularly common in production, warehousing, and shipping.
Liner / Backing Material
Back side of label rolls, which is peeled off during printing (peel and present) or manually after printing.
logiJET TC8
The logiJET TC8 is a high-performance, 8-inch, 2-color thermal transfer printer specifically designed for demanding industrial printing applications. It combines the robustness and reliability of an industrial printing system with the ability to reproduce two colors (e.g., red and black) in a single print job – ideal for GHS hazardous materials labels, color warnings, and other color-coded markings.
LPR/LPD
Network printing protocols for UNIX and enterprise environments.
