Glossary
M
MAC-Authentication
Access control based on the device hardware address.
Maintenance Kit
Maintenance kit for printers, consisting of spare parts such as rollers, printheads or sensors, to ensure continuous print quality and process reliability.
Media (Print Material / Consumables)
Term for the material being printed on (labels, paper, films) as well as consumables such as thermal transfer ribbons. Important for the quality and durability of the printed result.
MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition)
Magnetic Ink Read (MICR) technology uses magnetic ink or toner to make numbers and characters machine-readable. It is widely used in banking, financial documents, and checks, enabling secure, automated document flow, and can also be used in specialized label printing applications for security and traceability.
Mobile Printer / mobile Application
Printers designed for mobile use (e.g. on forklifts, mobile workstations, in warehouses) — flexible and mobile.
Monochrome
Monochrome printing is a printing method or printer that prints in only one color, usually black. Monochrome printing systems are used for barcode labels, delivery notes, invoices, and standard documents. They offer high readability, cost-efficiency, and process reliability in industry, logistics, and production lines.
Mounting Plate
A mechanical device on which printers, sensors, or peripherals are securely attached. Mounting plates ensure stable installation, precise alignment, and vibration-free operation, and are essential for inline production, just-in-time printing, and reliable labeling in industry and logistics.
MPC (Microplex Print Controller)
Microplex's proprietary printer controller supports various emulations and enables flexible integration – including direct PDF printing, GPIO control, and status output.
